Sir Noggin has a cyst on his head and underneath the cyst there’s a hole where his skull didn’t form correctly. Without the cyst, his brain would be unprotected, and he probably would not have survived long.

Who invites a character in all GREEN gear to their first run of Naxx 10 man? Bush league guilds, that’s who. This past weekend I witnessed what happens when a guild is unorganized, doesn’t understand their limits, and goes in not knowing the content or being prepared.

They wipe repeatedly and waste my time and the time of OUR main tank that was graciously helping them. Then, to rub salt in the wound, they invite a brand new 80 in all greens (its obvious this player doesn’t know shit about the game or he would have at LEAST had quest blues on) to replace a DPS spot when someone had to leave.

I’m sorry, but I have limited amount of time to play an MMO and I do not have the time to hand hold a player that falls off ledges, doesn’t care about his character or support a guild that lets a terrible rookie into a first time raid learning run. My GOD man the least you can do is buy any of the 80 gazillion blue mail items in the auction house for like 50 gold and improve yourself.

This ranks up there with the rogue I ran a 5 man with (MUTLIATE DAGGER SPEC’d) that didn’t use poisons. If no one knows that spec requires POISONS to be applied or you cannot use half the icons on your hotbar (namely the finishing move that is the top DPS attack).

There are limits. You set aside time to inform all the guild to get ready, help them run things and make them better players. You don’t invite lazy idiots along just for a free ride. No matter HOW easy Blizzard makes the game, I will hold to that forever. I like to be surrounded by intelligent people when I play, mature players who don’t talk about pee or poop jokes in vent and who have half a brain. These were adults mind you. In that raid this weekend I witnessed none of that.

We had to wait on a pull because one supposedly was laughing so hard he “pee’d his pants” and let me tell you…nothing was that funny. I like to relax and joke around but not with grade school age mentality players.

If that is the state of the game right now on our server we are fucked.

Thursday was to be the great heroic run day. I had the day off and so did our guild tank, so with him in tow I took my 80 priest and ran 6 or 7 back to back heroics and Tournament of Champions instances. By the end of the day I had my tier 8 helm, 3-4 upgrades and was sitting at 2000 spellpower buffed and was ready to raid. Friday, during a Halls of Lightening PUG, I hit exalted with the Wyrmrest Accord (a faction in World of Warcraft that gives you your uber head piece enchant) and then purchased my first 280% speed mount: my red drake. All this was done in the span of 48 hours and by then I had had enough with the priest. He was also exalted with the walrus folk and got his penguin pet.

Time to take a break on that, as even I can only run so many 5 mans in a two day span. After I enchanted and gemmed the priest up, I logged in the warrior and started to bust some heads in the Alterac Valley PVP zone. Since it was bonus weekend it popped a lot and my honor and XP flew rapidly. Before I knew it I was level 78 and by knocking out some quests in Borean Tundra for the Horde (remember he is a transfer so he can do all those quests) I was almost level 79. The next day I played early in the morning and he did in fact hit 79, and then I kept doing PVP. And kept doing PVP. And kept doing PVP. I also ran every daily I could and those would net me 12K XP a piece. Before I knew it I was 2 bars from level 80, and I finished 3 quests in a Borean Tundra chain and hit level 80 in a cave talking  to some Tauren ghost.

All this went by in the blink of an eye (I had Monday off for a bank holiday so that really helped). I kept PVP’ing even at 80 and now my warrior has about 36,000 honor points. Not sure what I want to buy for him but he was gaining achievements left and right. All this has me thinking now that since my priest is not DPS oriented, maybe it would not be a bad idea to PVP with the rogue as well. Of course, the Alterac Valley bonus has now ended and I am sure it will go back to being a useless honor grind so all this is mostly moot.

Sunday night I had the displeasure of trying to run 10 man Naxx with a guild that had never been there before and it was a nightmare in frustration and incompetence. Right down to the druid that battle rezzed a warlock over me because the “warlock was in the same guild as him”. NEVER AGAIN. By the way, lack of heals cost the guild that boss. I bet that uber warlock DPS helped a ton. Good call Resto Druid guy, good call.

Monday was a pretty dead day other than running some PVP stuff and trying to find gear on a server chock full of crappy Death Knights that buy up all the plate so they can “play tank”.

At this point I have the warrior ready to tank non heroic ToC should the need be there but his main thing will be for me to PVP with him and see what that world is all about. The sky is the limit now, but once again at level 80 if you cannot find a tank, even as a healer, PUG runs are few and far between.

I went away Saturday night and most of Sunday for a mini vacation and also picked up a few Blu rays. Ate at a great steak place and celebrated my girlfriend landing the culinary job she always wanted. No new games have been bought, no new blog posts to report other than this recap, and all is slow and boring in MMO land. With four level 80’s in my stable (3 horde) I have plenty to do if I cannot get groups since I have gotten addicted to the fishing daily recently. That is a lot of money to be had.

This is the second time I have accidentally stumbled upon one of these mobs without even looking for them and that makes it even more fun. I know one thing, my little tiny blood elf mage is starting to get a collection of sweet gear for the upper levels.

The newer players in WoW do not understand this raid…PERIOD.

I also think that Ony has an odd bug in the fight where you get tail swatted way too easily. Even when standing on the side. At any rate went in with 10 people. 10 people in a so called “uber” guild on our server. We couldn’t take her down. Off tank was unable to contain the whelps, no DoT’s on her when she was in phase 2 and in short the raid was a complete clusterf*ck.

I was amazed at how many had never seen her or even knew about what the fight entailed. I am finding it harder and harder to play with PUG’s in this game on a daily basis. So many new people that it baffles me.

Afterwards I went and healed Heroic ToC since it was the daily and I did get a nice neck upgrade so I guess the night wasn’t a total loss. NO deaths on that run to report, although since two guildies and I were messing around singing Tenacious D on Skype while we ran it we actually took longer to joust than to kill the Black Knight.

Look I can understand it is a pain to post an application to a guild. I mean it takes you all of what…5 minutes to fill out the tough questions that we had to make sure you weren’t a douchebag right?

We have some simple questions we ask people who may be interested in joining to answer. Not game related really, not gear related, and these are GENERAL community questions too. However some people are irritated by this. Some people actually got mad about us asking them to stop by and see if they would be a good fit in the community. Gamers today are lazy. These aren’t questions asking about raid experience or DPS numbers these are simple sense of humor checks and general gaming attitude questions.

Not that hard right? Still people seem to want to be able to recruit on the spot, open invites, even if the player may be a hard core power gamer that does not mesh with the views and attitudes of our community. This is really odd when we especially advertise that we are not hard core players. You know right…on our guild recruitment message on the Aion boards. The same boards that people can visit day in and day out to talk trash to the developers but at the same time these people cannot stop by the Titans boards to post a simple “HELLO ALL THIS IS WHO I AM” message.

Not hard is it?

Lets look at World of Warcraft. How about applications to raiding guilds? Useless now or still quite a good thing to weed out the chaff (like 90% of the Deathknights)?

You can tell a lot about a WoW player that wants to get serious at end game by simply searching them at the Armory. In fact some players that apply hide their gear when they log out. Some players that want to join at level 20 are simply scammers wanting to get into your guild bank. Some players are alts just looking for a title over their head. Some people could give two shits about your guild and simply want to gear up an 80 alt that their actual guild won’t allow in a raid.

All of these arguments are good for World of Warcraft guild applications, but it can also bite you hard if a good player is simply too lazy to take the time to stop by and post an application so you can get to know them. What do you do then?

MMO players are a fickle generally EMO bunch. They get so touchy about the dumbest things. A lot of them refuse to communicate in person as well and would rather type out these long goodbye messages because they feel they were “internet wronged” when we linked them our charter and policies (which they SWORE they read when they joined ya know!).

We let those people go. We don’t want closet recluse types that get upset over a misconstrued post on some message board. We want social people that are fun to hang out with on Vent or Skype or whatever and just want to play games to get away from their daily hassles in life. I have grown a thick skin in all my time playing MMO’s and I just let those people go now. I have given up trying to kiss their asses. I am here to play games and have fun. You want to talk to me or the leader of the Aion Legion then here is a novel idea: ASK THEM TO TALK TO YOU. I am not involved in Aion or Champions Online. I don’t even own them. I just find it funny at all the drama people try to kick up over the dumbest things when all they have to do is read.
